| Owned by the Disney corporation, the New Amsterdam Theatre is the home of the hit Broadway show The Lion King. The complex has roots is one of Broadway's oldest houses. The original New Amsterdam opened the same night as the Lyceum in 1903. Disney bought the old building and restored it. The 42nd Street theatre includes an overdone baroque decor dating from the days of Ziegfeld Follies and is quite charming where on the outside Times Square now bursts with a scrubbed-up neon glow. | |||||||||

When entering the New Amterstam Theatre one will be greeted by ticket takers dressed in a 1930s motif. From there elevators carry patrons to the mezzanine levels and a grand staircase descends to the New Amterstate Room below. Several amenities reside within the theatre itself including a refreshment area, mens and ladies lounges, and an elegant souvenir stand. The complex seats 1,771 and is handicapped accessible. | ||||||||
